Bio

Morevi, the creative moniker of Georgian-Belgian artist duo Ana Naskidashvili and Frederik Poisquet, focuses on the ancient craft of hand-felting. Historically, hand-felted tapestries in Georgia, especially in the Tusheti region, were crafted by families and served as central elements in homes, fostering a sense of community and belonging. Morevi seeks to bring this concept into a contemporary context, creating pieces that evoke the same sense of connection and warmth. The making process is central to their work, involving a series of meditative and repetitive gestures. Morevi values the relationships forged between the material and the creator, the artwork and its audience, and between the materials themselves. Their working method results in minimal artworks that embody subtle interactions between a natural, uncontained visual language and the intentional human intervention.

Terra

Their series of felted tapestries is divided into two collections: Terra and Liminal. For this exhibition, Morevi is presenting a large handfelted tapestry made from Belgian wool from the Terra series. Produced in a palette of natural, earthy tones, these tapestries offer grounded reflections on the tangible world we inhabit, focusing on the here and now. The Liminal pieces are hand-dyed with indigo pigment, producing deep blue tones that evoke the twilight zone between day and night. These works embody spiritual transformation and passage.
